Guide to Stirring for Kitchen Witches

Stirring is undoubtedly one of the most notable techniques in kitchen spellwork. It is the part of the process when you are most able to put intention into your mixture, your concoction or meal.

Along with that, there are also other notable gestures and techniques that are used in kitchen witchery that can improve the impact of your practice.

Mindfulness

Your attitude including your state of mind during stirring can affect the quality of your spells when you are in the kitchen. Even if you don’t have any intention while cooking, energy transfers to the food you are cooking.

If you are blissful, joyful and excited while cooking, chances are your family or friends will unconsciously bring this into their day. If you cook for yourself, you will most likely experience the same. This technique is even more significant when doing manifestation spells in the kitchen.

Intention

Next to mindfulness, there must be an intention to add magick into any recipe. An intention can be as simple as one-word, or a wordless thought which can also be described as a type of vibration you wish to cultivate in a specific area of your life.

Examples of intentions can be to cleanse, to protect, to invite love or self-love and to achieve success.

Stirring

Did you know that almost 80% of the people instinctively stir in the counterclockwise direction? If you are one of those people, then this technique might take quite a longer while to get a hang of — unless you keep your focus and mindfulness into the practice, just like we talked about earlier.

There are two types of stirring. The first one aims to promote, create and implement while the other one aims to banish things, emotions, or negative energy.

Stirring Clockwise

Stirring Clockwise

Stirring clockwise promotes the manifestation of desires, both spiritual and material. If you desire for family health, financial stability, success, love, then stirring clockwise is the best option.

Stirring Counterclockwise (Widdershuns)

Now that you are aware what stirring clockwise means, let’s head on to the opposite side of the coin. If you’re the type of person who unconsciously stirs counterclockwise, it’s wise to be vigilant and mentally focused when doing spells because this gesture or technique aims to banish. What you might be wishing for might be translated to banishment which is not what you want to happen.

If you intentionally want to banish something, let go of a toxic habit or send negative energy away, then stirring counterclockwise is the best way to infuse your meal or concoction with the energy or frequency to banish something.

Other Tips for the Kitchen Witch

If you are just beginning to dive into the practice, learning about the ingredients you use or about the herbs you have in your kitchen can help you recreate your own spells.

Alternatively, you may ask your ancestors about an ancestral recipe and go from there. Family recipes often carry strong energy as it is passed down through several lineages, making it a great recipe to start with as a kitchen witch.
