Renewal Rituals for the New Year

A new year is about to come and Capricorn energy is at its peak. This has been a tough year and it is no doubt that everyone has experienced breakthroughs that have either challenged one’s physical, mental or spiritual conditions.

With the new year to come, letting go and reconnecting plays an essential aspect in many renewal rituals.

Cleanse Your Sacred Space

Your sacred space is where you do most of your magick, where you sit in meditation and where you simply become your truest self.

In the short term, this space in your home is where you are the most vulnerable. That being said, your sacred space must always be cleansed— especially with the turning of the wheel of the year once again.

For this cleansing ritual, you will be needing:

  • Ritual Oil
  • Herbs for cleansing
  • White Candle

Choose a time when you are less likely to be disturbed. Before lighting the candle, center yourself and dress the candle with your ritual oil and herbs of choice. Once you are ready, light the candle and close your eyes.

Visualize dust or smoke precipitating and being scrubbed away by a white, bright cloth. Imagine this as negative energy leaving your space. Take all the time you need to visually “scrub away” these energies — up until the space feels completely lighter.

Release and Let Go of the Old

Opportunities come to those who are not afraid to “lose” anything. Whether you associate the year with positive or negative experiences, detaching yourself from these experiences is essential to move forward without expectations nor disappointments.

This allows you to become unidentified with the things that feed your ego — realigning your true purpose.

For this ritual, you will need the following:

  • Ceramic Incense Dish
  • Loose Incense or Sage
  • Lighter or Matchsticks

Again, during a time when you can’t be disturbed, gather all these materials and head outside where you can sit or stay comfortably. Ideally, you would want to do this ritual in your front yard or balcony.

Light your incense or your sage and hold it while saying this mantra:

I release all burdens and negativity from this past year;

I welcome abundance, prosperity, success and wealth in money, relationships, work, friendship and recognition;

May my friends, family and I be protected and guided by Spirit throughout the year;

So must it be.

Repeat this as long as you like or until you fully absorb the energy of this mantra.

Reconnect with your Inner Self

Reconnect with your Inner Self

With the Capricorn energy at its peak, there is no better time to put your intentions out for the universe to hear. Set aside the festivities and take a moment to revisit your goals and intentions for the year to come.

For this ritual, you will need the following:

  • White Candle
  • Sage or Loose Incense
  • Lighter or Matchsticks
  • Paper and Pen
  • Extra Ashtray
  • Herbs of Choice (optional)

Now that your home feels lighter, you are now ready to set your intentions and charge the new year with the frequency of your desires. Light the white candle you used to cleanse your sacred space and prepare some loose incense to heighten the vibe in the room.

Once you are centered, write down your goals for the year, may it be short term or long term. Recite the intentions you wrote on the piece of paper for three times or until you feel confident and assured that these blessings will come to you in the right time.

Then, burn this piece of paper with your candle, making sure the ashes are being catched by a dish or tray. When finished, put the ashes in a small jar with herbs that complement or support your intentions. Place it where you can easily access or see it, preferably near your altar.

Alternatively, you may write down each goal or desire in categories using different pieces of paper. Put it in separate jars with labels (e.g. career, love, home) and place the jars corresponding to its category.

For instance, you may put your “love jar” on your bedside table or you may put your “career jar” on your working desk. This will allow the energy of your manifestations to circulate around the area “where the magic is meant to happen”.

Prosperity comes to people who can balance trust, focus and action. These rituals and spells are not guaranteed without your help. More so, to make the magic happen, you must listen to the signs given to you by your guides.

Remember, the universe can only give you directions and it is up to you to let it guide you to the right path. Happy New Year!
