Unique Candle Magick Ideas For Protection Magic

Candle magick is one of the simplest and most respectable practices in witchcraft. The practice is known for its ability to connect us to the ethereal world through its shifting of state.

When we are connected to the Divine, we are automatically shielded from negativity and the distorted reality influenced by external forces. Just like crystals and plants, candles allow us to reconnect with our Highest Self and discover the messages that it holds for us.

Of course, there is no right or wrong way to practice with candles. What matters is how you put out your intention to the universe and how firmly you believe that it will manifest. However, once you get into the practice, it’s natural to be curious about new ways to creatively utilize the magical abilities of candle magick.

With that in mind, here are three unique ways on how you can add spark to your candle magick practice.

Using a Black Candle as a Working Candle

As protective and grounding by nature, a black candle is the best candle to use during spellwork, divination, and tarot reading. In color magick, black is associated with uncrossing, casting, and warding off negative energies. Because of these properties, black candles are greatly used as a working candle that gets lit every time there is spiritual work to be done at the altar.

Carving Symbols and Sigils

Making symbols and sigils is the most creative way to amplify and attract the energies of any affirmation or manifestation. A sigil is a personal seal that supports the manifestation of your desire.

To place a sigil on your candle, use an athame or knife used for divination purposes, carve a sigil on your candle and use the light it every time you meditate upon the intention that your sigil is based of.

Carving Symbols and Sigils

Alternatively, you may utilize witchcraft symbols in your candle magick practice such as earth, water, air, and fire. These symbols are the easiest to remember because of their similarity in appearance. Earth, as portrayed by a striped inverted triangle supports you in material riches, fortune, and abundance.

Fire, as portrayed by a triangle, motivates you to take action and persevere beyond fear. Air, as portrayed by a striped triangle, encourages you to see beyond the eye can see and think beyond the thoughts that the vulnerable mind can comprehend.

Water, as portrayed by an inverted triangle, inspires you to protect and be empathetic to nature and all the inhabitants of the universe, just as it protects and nurtures you.

Safeguarding with a Pentacle

Just like a black candle, arranging your candles in the shape of a pentacle can safeguard your area during spellwork. It wards of external influences and biases that may negatively impact your connection with the source energy.

For many witches, safeguarding your sacred space with a pentacle during spiritual work is also commonly known as casting a circle. To add more depth and energy, you may add protective crystals such as Obsidian, Hematite, Black Tourmaline, and Selenite.
