What is Moon Magick

The moon is honored by our ancestors for a various of reasons, one including its influence to the growth of humanity, nature and animals. It is also believed to guide us in this lifetime through its silent wisdom and powerful energy directly coming from its soft, bright light.

Understanding Moon Phases

One of the best ways to understand moon magick is by learning about the meanings each phases possesses. Once you understand the moon’s phases, you will also begin to understand why witches take time for a ritual on a full moon.

New Moon

The new moon is a time for turning a blank, new page and for diving to new beginnings. A time for reflection and acknowledgment of the things we want in our life. This time can be used to make vision boards, and wish lists and initiate manifestation rituals. During this time, ask yourself this question: What do I want to manifest in my life right now?

Waxing Crescent Moon

The waxing crescent moon is an extended time for you to set an intention and direct your path to your desire. This is a time for you to revisit your plan and envision yourself achieving the small goals that will eventually lead you to your primary desire.

First Quarter Moon

As the moon progresses to its first quarter phase, your energies must also shift and move forward. The first quarter moon is a time to tap into your masculine energies. It is a time for taking action, taking full responsibility of the things you can control and leaving the rest to the life source energy.

Waxing Gibbous Moon

Nobody talks so much about the waxing gibbous moon, but it holds an important role in moon magick. It is a time for gaining momentum, heading for the peak of a bountiful harvest.

Understanding Moon Phases

Full Moon

Full moon is a time of harvest, celebration and of gratitude. It is a time for thanksgiving to nature, animals and relationships. A time for directing your attention to the present.

One of the best ways to spend a night under the bright, full moon is by spending a night outside in meditation. You may also leave your crystals exposed to the light of the moon overnight or put a jar of water to charge it with energies of abundance and prosperity.

Waning Gibbous Moon

During this phase, take the opportunity to become a witness, an observer of your own thoughts and actions. Become who you truly are: an omnipresent spiritual being. Be nothing — create space for the potential to sprout into existence. Forget self-limiting beliefs, negative thoughts and doubts of your capability.

Third Quarter Moon

The third quarter moon signifies maturity — a hinge towards the end of life (death) or a time of maturity in a woman’s womb (beginning of life). During this time, accept endings and let go with grace. Flow through this phase with great hope for new beginnings.

Waning Crescent Moon

The waning crescent moon is a time for rest. This phase reminds us that taking breaks is also essential for our wellbeing. This time is best spent with a spiritual bath or a day with friends and family.
